Sausage balls

Since I discovered my homemade sausage recipe, I've been having fun with sausage lately! I wanted to make sausage balls for a football party, but I wanted one with no Bisquick. (I don't use Bisquick.)

I found two, and I so far I like Martha Stewart's better.

Here is the other one I found too, which also includes another recipe for turkey sausage to try!

So yay for sausage balls!

Thanksgiving Turkey

I decided to do a turkey breast in the slow cooker this year instead of a whole turkey in the oven. Other than not having as much turkey as I was used to, this was a great idea and a great recipe. The gravy was great too. I'm marking this as a keeper!

Veggie Tostadas

This just looked like it would be good, it looked easy and it was different.

I am so glad I tried it. It was wonderful. The hubs and I both loved it.

I made tacos for the kids...

I can't wait to make this again:

baked potatoes

I needed a good recipe for baked potatoes, as silly as this sounds. This one turned out really well, so I'm keeping it here!

Breakfast Sausage

I have looked for an easy breakfast sausage that I could make for a long time. I like to have it occasionally as patties served with breakfast and also like to use it in our favorite breakfast casserole. It was my aim to find a recipe that was both tasty and didn't have all the harmful ingredients that prepackaged sausage have.

This is the recipe I used, and I really like it. I used lean ground turkey. I think if there was anything I missed it was the greasiness of regular sausage. Perhaps using lean ground beef would add that wonderful missing ingredient?

This will definitely be a staple in our breakfast routine, and I can't wait to try it in the breakfast casserole recipe.

*** Edited to add. I did miss the greasiness of regular sausage. I have been carefully saving my good bacon grease, and in a moment of ingenuity I added about a teaspoon of grease to this recipe and they were perfect. Yay!

Kale, potato & turkey sausage soup

My friend Hayes is an amazing cook. She made me some of this soup 10 years ago, and I still remember how good it was and how much I loved it.

This recipe came up on my newsfeed the other day, and I decided to try it for myself. It was pretty easy to make but took a bit longer prep-wise than I was expecting.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be worth it, though...

Slow Cooker Balsamic Chicken

This is my new favorite website. I just happened upon it on Facebook and I'm so glad I did.

This is the first recipe I tried, and it was really good. I can't wait to try more...

Four tortillas

I finally tried homemade flour tortillas after getting tired of reading the ingredients in store bought ones. This recipe was easy and really good! Glad I gave these a try.

Roasted Broccoli

I love to roast asparagus, and this reminded me that there are other vegetables worth roasting too. I'm going to try cauliflower and a zucchini/squash/red onion mix too.

Simple and good.

Healthy Deep Dish Cookies

I'm not a fan of Pinterest, but I do love that friends get on there and find good recipes. This one sounded really weird, but I gave it a try. It's actually good. It's not exactly like the flour/egg/butter deep dish cookie I've posted on here, but considering how much more healthy it is, I think it tastes pretty great. The kids and hubs loved it, and this may become our new favorite desert.

Perhaps I'll make it a few more times before deciding that...

Thai Chicken

This really isn't called "Thai Chicken," but the name "Peanut Butter Chicken" sort of eeks me out. So we call it "Thai Chicken."

And it's not even Thai, really. But it was different, and I needed different. So it's a keeper.
